TOWER THEATRE

HELP US MAKE TOWER THEATRE FEATURE LENGTH FILM SUMMER 2024

Why I need to make this:

As a filmmaker, my love for film began at local theaters and rental stores. My friends and family would always have to wait excruciatingly long while I meticulously checked every aisle to make sure I didn’t potentially miss the perfect VHS or DVD for the night. That love for film eventually led to me working at a movie theater while pursuing my own dreams of making movies. Now, with a global pandemic and the rise of streaming, movie rental stores are increasingly endangered while the popularity of movie theaters shrinks.

I wrote this script to hold a place in history before our local indie movie theaters close down and to remind us how it feels to go to the movies. As an updated Clerks-style, workplace comedy, Tower Theatre is a love letter to cinemas and the film lovers that work there.

At the core of this film are human relationships and the journey of learning when it's time to let go of something, or someone.  As a filmmaker, I focus strongly on the emotions that connect the characters on screen to each other and to the audience. The universal experiences of losing love or pursuing passions are feelings that burn deep inside myself and in many of us.

These universal human responses are all evident throughout the seemingly common encounters and stresses from a day in the life at Tower Theatre.
